Mrs Meads came in today to look further into waste reduction. We shared what we had noticed about shopping in the supermarket. Students had noticed that there was a lot of packaging on food. We discussed the dominoes that are being given away with our groceries and how each one comes in a plastic wrapping. Kotahitanga are going to collect the plastic wrapping and see how much waste is produced. Mrs Meads challenged the class to think about how we could reduce this waste.
If you are stuck for speech topics there are lots of websites that you can go to. Try this one called Write Out Loud or check out Best Speech Topics.
Kate Meads came into Kotahitanga today to kickstart our inquiry into waste. We talked about types of rubbish and what happens to the rubbish that we throw out into the bin.
We examined the type of rubbish we bring to school and Mrs Meads has challenged the class to sort and collect all the rubbish for a week and to see how much waste we create. There are labelled plastic bags for us to sort our rubbish. At the end of the week we will weigh our rubbish. Go onto the Story Starter website for some fun starters for your holidays.
