Today we challenged kotaihitanga to build the tallest tower they could with just pasta and marshmallows. Many different design ideas were tried. Kotahitanga was lucky to have a visit from Dave Sherriff today. Dave is Emma's grandfather and he came to share some taonga (treasure) from his father who fought in World War II. Emma's great grandfather was James (or Jim) Sherriff. Jim spent years at war as a gunner on a boat. He would load the shells into the guns and fire at enemy planes in an attempt to shoot them down. |
