On Friday we split into three groups to complete a range of activities. Students got to choose between science, technology and PE. The technology group looked at how they could build a structure out of newspaper and tape that would hold up a cup of marbles. Thies and Austin were the winners of this challenge. Well done. What an amazing week we had at Finlay Park Camp. The children all challenged themselves to try new things and had an absolute blast doing it. In week four the students looked at a range of products that we usually find in our lunch boxes such as chips, biscuits, yoghurt, cheese and fruit. They analysed how much these cost to purchase in bulk compared to how much they cost when we buy them individually packaged. They also looked at how we can use our new Kai Carriers to package these products and reduce waste. Ask your child what they discovered in these activities. The students had fun taking part in a range of hands on maths activities during maths week. They designed their dream house and then used nets to create 3D shapes to build their house. It was great to hear the children discussing prism, pyramids and cubes as they built their creations.
The NED Show came to Katikati Primary School this week. Kristy, from America, was a fantastic presenter. She shared the NED message and showed us her amazing yoyo skills. NED stands for Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best. Ask your children about the show and what they learnt from NED. You can find out more about NED by looking at their website.
Charli the dog and Cookie the guinea pig came to visit the new class today. Fun times and lots of fluffy cuddles. |
